Greta Thunberg became one of the world's most recognisable climate activists while still a teenager — and with that visibility came extraordinary hostility.

Her anger, directness and refusal to soften her message have repeatedly been used against her. Rather than simply disagreeing with what she says, critics have attacked who she is: difficult, hysterical, annoying, a brat.

This portrait asks what happens when a young woman refuses to make her anger more palatable.
