Elaine grew up being underestimated because of her disability, with other people repeatedly deciding what kind of life was realistic for her. She was treated as fragile, incapable and someone who should not aim too high.Her altered portrait turns that assumption into cracked glass, reflecting the way she was treated as something breakable while she continued building a life far bigger than others expected.
